Why should I choose NU-LOOK REFINISHING?
NU-LOOK-REFINISHING uses only the best possible materials available. The coatings are manufactured to be used on porcelain and fiberglass tubs and showers and plastic laminate countertops. Not all coatings are created equal. We are fully trained and certified to do the work we do.
Am I limited to the original color of the fixture?
NO! we can have any color you can come up with computer matched by our supplier.
Do you use Acid in your process?
NO! We do not use the process of "ACID ETCHING", At NU-LOOK refinishing we use a bonding agent that actually bonds the molecules in the porcelain to the molecules in the porcelain glaze that we apply, our home company was the first to offer such technology. No dangerous "acid etching", no spray on primer, this allows us to keep our focus on applying a thicker, richer coating on your fixture. Which in turn allows us to offer a 10 year warranty on many applications.
Isn't "ACID ETCHING" the porcelain better?
NO! "acid etching"is OLD school and outdated. When you acid etch, then spray on the primer, you get what is called a mechanical bond, the primer just lays on the roughed up surface. With the bonding agent we get from our supplier, the coating is literally fused to surface at the atomic level creating a bond that can last a lifetime.
How long will this process take?
A normal application can be done in less than one day. The tub or fixture will be ready to use in 24hours(in which time it cannot get wet at all)and it will be fully cured in 48hours.
If my tub or fixture was refinished once before, can it be done again?
Absolutely, for an additional charge to cover the stripping of the old glaze.
If I am doing the bathroom over, when should I have the tub done?
Schedule us for the step of your project, after the dust has settled so to speak. The last thing anyone wants is an electrician or other dropping a heavy tool on a newly refinished surface.
Is a bathtub the only thing you can refinish?
Not at all, we have refinishing options for tubs, shower stalls, tile enclosures as well as kitchen countertops, cabinet facings and other acrylic and fiberglass surfaces.
Is my new tub surface going to require special chemicals to keep clean?
No not at all,You will receive simple instructions with your job, it is recommended that cleaners such as Dow scrubbing bubbles or lysol basin and tile cleaner are used and to stay away from any abrasive powder type cleaners.
What if my tub is chipped or my shower has a crack in it? Shouldn't I just replace it?
No need, most minor chips or cracks will be fixed in the preparation process, at no extra charge in most cases. Any larger or leaking cracks or chips can be repaired before we resurface the tub or shower for an additional charge.
Isn't this stuff just paint I can get at my local hardware giant?
No! The material we use is specifically designed for the use in tubs/Showers it is a Aliphatic Acrylic Urethane System. And it is very expensive and cannot be purchased by a homeowner or do-it yourself-er.You must be trained and certified by the supplier, as well as having all the equipment to safely handle and apply it. It is designed to withstand temperature fluctuations, immersion and the expansion and contraction of the fixture it is applied to.
Will my tub be more difficult to keep clean?
Not at all, actually our refinishing material is non-porous(no microscopic holes)unlike the original surface, So shampoo, soaps and other potential stains, simply lie right on the surface. There is no scrubbing required, all you have to do is simply wipe the surface clean with any of the recommended cleaners.
